Why wouldn't they...the QBs available will be better than Gabriel and Sanders. Both of whom probably are not starter caliber QBs.

He would have had way more preseason action and several quality starts under his belt with really no expectations. Perfect situation for him. And in a year or so been in a good position to push for a trade to start somewhere.
Instead he’s QB5 on a team with 3 active QBs and no chance of ever seeing the field. The browns may keep him on the roster out of spite at this point and he’s stuck for 4 years

Of course not. Why would any coach want that distraction. I'd imagine he will start a couple games this year and be traded for a 6th or 7th round pick by the next regime.
