Isn't he supposed to return to WWE or what? Could come back and make AA his stable.

04/05 Shelton definitely could make waves now. But back then, he was an outstanding athlete with the mic skills of a sheet of paper. Him and John Morrison (well, Morrison as a face) were the exact same person. Great athletes with tragic mic skills. They may have not been given much to work with, but they didn't do much themselves either.

yeah an update was just posted:

Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned Shelton Benjamin is once again in talks with WWE to return to the company … only this time he isn’t unknowingly injured while doing so.

For those who don’t recall, Benjamin was advertised as returning to Smackdown Live following the WWE Draft last year … but a shoulder injury derailed those plans and his deal fell through.

However, as we previously reported, Shelton was officially cleared for action back in March.

The next month he tweeted, “Let me clear this up now. I am not signed to @WWE. I never signed due to injury. While that could change, as of 4-16-2017 I am a free agent”

Our sources tell us Shelton’s deal isn’t done quite yet, but things are heading in the right direction … so he’ll more than likely appear on SD Live once it’s finalized and creative plans are in place.

You're talking mic skills when Baron Corbin is in line to win the title?

You can't compare 2003/4 WWE to 2017 WWE. If Shelton of 03/04 was around in 11-present WWE he'd have got a title run, guaranteed. Whole landscape has changed since then though, and comparing the two would be disingenuous at best

Yes, he would have been a decent transitional champ in 04/05 like everybody said. He could have been even done fine in 2010-2013 once the indy type of guys got some recognition. He suffered from a chicken and the egg syndrome. He never really showed an ounce of personality, but he really never got a good chance to show anything either. I think if he got half of a machine behind him like some of the aforementioned guys (like an Orton or even Ziggler) he could have went much much further.

I feel like Farooq should have gotten a run during the NOD days. Sucks it was during the immature crotch chopping days. :beli:
I always feel like he should have took it from Austin even if it was a fukkery filled month long transitional reign (assuming my fuzzy timeline lines up).

Ppl still complaining about Khali are short sighted

Its literally the exact same reason Jinder has the title now

Khali is/was a significantly bigger deal in India than Jinder and it made them no money there. Maybe it's Network reach or something but they somehow think it's diff now. I believe they see Indian fans as primitive and don't know that Jinder is a jobber Canadian that they're pandering the fans with.
