Naw yall selling NG short.

It’s a very different game than Art of vengeance. . More old school arcade like, and lots closer the gameplay design of the source material of both franchises.

If you liked the OG NG and Shinobi games. Ragebound is like both of those mixed together with some updated graphics and gameplay elements.

Art of vengeance is more closely aligned with modern 2D hack n slash games. It has more “meat” per se as a game with the combos, exploration, i think it’s longer, more fleshed out story stuff, it just has more stuff to do, and feels more like a full fledged game you would expect in 2025.

I can understand people saying Art of Vengence is better.

But i think there is some value in a more old school “arcade” like experience.

I feel like “the messenger” is better than both of them tho :mjpls:
I just beat Ragebound 2 days ago and played it throughout the month since release. I put in about 4-5 hours of Shinobi the past two days. There's no short sale. It's just that much better.

Also, it's (NG) not as old school similar as it appears on the surface either. I watched this long breakdown of how it isn't a few days ago and at first, thought it might've been hate, but nope.

It’s different.

The games wouldn’t even be compared if they didn’t have the nostalgia attached to them.

Ragebound is an Arcade platfromer

Art of vengence is 2D hack n slash.

Not arguing your opinion. The game set out to do very different things.

Ragebound does a great job at being what it is.

Classic shinobi and ninja gaiden play completely different though. I mean to be honest, shinobi is the most inconsistent franchise that exists.

yeah they play different but ragebound has a little bit of both of them in it.

Art of Vengence plays like more recent indie hack n slash games.

What the OST hitting for? I was playing the demo last night, but I was on discord so I wasn’t locked in at all.

Not really understanding your question, but the OST is great. Doesn't seem to be available on streaming platforms yet tho.
Just asking how the music is in the game. I couldn’t really listen to it while I was playing. The vibes are important to me in metroidvanias when I’m wandering around

It's great and sounds like all you need to do is turn up the damn volume and/or don't play single player games while on discord if you wanna know what they sound like fool, lol.

So is it still worth buying Ninja Gaiden? I was on the fence about it.
Absolutely.

It isn't a bad game and it really makes you appreciate the polish put on shinobi. Like in Ninia gaiden, the level design isn't bad, but in shinobi each stage feels alive; how you interact with the stage, how it changes as you progress, the music.

The action in Ninja Gaiden is functional and feels as though a swarm of scrubs is thrown at you. It is not bad, but it makes you appreciate the thought shinobi put into you the character and the enemies you face. It feels like you have choice over the style rather than things be split into timing and sequence.

Playing Ninja Gaiden allows you to see clearly that they went the extra mile.

Right. On all fronts, Ninja Gaiden is a great game. Shinobi just happens to be an even greater game.

The only style difference between the two is that Shinobi is more of a metroidvania-lite and Ragebound pretty much isn't at all. So in that regard, their approach to level designs would be a bit different.
