you would lose the home court advantage by losing game 1 on your home court due to playing on Friday, traveling home and playing on Sunday immediately, while GS has been rested and prepping for 4-5 extra days.

If Memphis loses game 1 at home then there are only 6 potential games remaining in the series split 3 in Memphis, 3 in the bay…thus no more home court advantage.

1) The bolded makes no sense
2) as for the italicized 6 games split yes but game 7 would still be played in Memphis and that's a clear advantage
In short it's.a formula that drives no relevant point yet is used over and over in NBA playoffs talk
