This whole Idea that people can keep moving where there is no resources to better save money is not reality. The ones who will actually be able to do that are probably working remote and will come to these places and drive up costs eventually. The towns themselves need to build up and attract people so that they can organically grow and sustain the population. Otherwise a bunch of people rushing to remote places with no jobs and resources to save money isn't logical if they don't come with money or entrepreneurship
We aren't talking about jobs here, I'm under the assumption people already have jobs, they just can't afford a house in their city. In that case they should think about moving. You're making an assumption that there aren't any up and coming cities.
And you're making an assumption that lessor known cites don't have jobs. If you never lived there, how do you know? Lesser known cities tend to have a cheaper cost of living too

It's a hard pill to swallow, but folks gone have to move.
