Surely there is the initial lack of trust which is tough to overcome as you consistently prove yourself and its basically the game on 8 stars if your black but youd be lying by omission if you said I have a clean criminal record, but you spent 7 years in jail.

I think they should, there should also be programs available based on your time. Like roofing or becoming an electrician. With as many convicts as there are we could do so many things with them to help them better themselves.
They say it's rehabilitation, simply because you're removed from your habitat, but what good is it if your place now if it doesn't help you mentally.

Definitely not. Them fools be the biggest criminals. We start wiping records willy nilly and everybody gonna want that. Crime = doing the time, and you get a report card for your troubles. That was a choice, and you fukked yourself over. If you were a thief and I run a retail shop, i might wanna know this, cause there are plenty of brothas who didnt do that shyt who can fill this position. Its not about not wanting to give folks a chance, its about not being the sucker who gets taken when the new hire is in a situation and needs a quick comeup. He did it before, why not again and to me? Same for pedos, same for anyone with a history of violence. You really dont know people, but some papers can give you an idea what they are willing to do.

This whole thread reminds me of a situation with this older guy in my neighborhood. He was trying enroll in a program to get his GED. Because of his felony record from 20 years ago he couldn't get in. It made me question how fukked up the game is if once you get convicted that record can keep you from getting a job and from any program that might help you better yourself in any way. You won't qualify for government assistance and if you move in with a family member that is getting assistance it can be cut off if you're caught.
The way things are set up now every sentence is a life sentence because even if you get out you continue to be punished for your crime forever. Your options are so limited it's damn near a miracle if you don't go back.

However when you did a crime, you and your serve your time, what you get back is your freedom on the outside, not the freedom from what you did.

Silver spoon? Mothafukka, I didnt know what a silver spoon was till i could afford one this yearI cant tell you how much debt I have currently that dates back over a decade. My family was scratching to live something resembling middle class, and we paying like hell for it now.
