:what: Breh...I never said others (non blacks) can't learn the language too. My entire post says that it is important so that, no matter where in the world you go, other black people will speak a COMMON language that is Afrocentric.
Looking at the cost/benefit I dont think this shyt will make much of a difference. But if thats what we're doing as a group then fine. Upload the Rosetta Stone DVD and i'll learn it.

Or wait.. Do i get exempt since i already speak an afrocentric language?

:ill: OP is a super c00n but he makes a good point.

Its cool for all black people to keep their cultural diversity and languages but Black people, worldwide, need at least ONE common language that was not taught by our oppressors. Why use English when it was taught by the slave masters in America. Why learn French when the colonized parts of Africa, Why learn spanish when they too colonized parts of Africa, Why learn Arabic when they played just as big of a part in the slave trade as the cacs in America. Why not learn Kiswahili or Swahili? :ohhh:

Black people need less barriers between us. Image this...what if every state in the United States spoke a different language and had a different government. The country would slow down exponentially due to all the barriers and constant conflicts due to people not having common ground. Image living in Atlanta and speaking a completely different language than people in Mississippi. :pachaha:

If black people had one language they can do business across borders much easier, they can build infrastructure easier, they can politic much easier. I think it is a great idea. Once black people have a black owned school, we can make it part of the curriculum and in about 10-20 we will have an entire generation of black people that all speak one Afrocentric language regardless of where they are from.

:blessed:

...or black people can learn the vernacular all Africans of different languages identify with, which is Pidgin English.

everyone should keep their native language strong, learn a language of another land, and speak esperanto :blessed:

it's not afrocentric but it's highly fluid and inherently a borrowing language, so it could easily become afrocentric-ized in a pretty short period of time if those interested were speaking it. it's designed to be easy - no irregular verbs, only five vowels (just like in swahili :win: ) and it facilitates learning other foreign languages

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esperanto

Esperanto (/ɛspəˈrɑːntoʊ/ or /-ræntoʊ/; [espeˈranto] listen (help·info)) is the most widely spoken constructed international auxiliary language.[4] Its name derives from Doktoro Esperanto ("Esperanto" translates as "one who hopes"), the pseudonym under which L. L. Zamenhof published the first book detailing Esperanto, the Unua Libro, on July 26, 1887. Zamenhof's goal was to create an easy-to-learn, politically neutral language that would transcend nationality and foster peace and international understanding between people with different languages. :blessed:

The word COMMON keeps getting lost on you. Plenty of black people speak an Afrocentric language but they are all different.

Like I said earlier, that is like if every state in the US had its own language. It would be harder for us all to communicate with each other.

There would be no thecoli.com because it would have people from different states creating threads in different languages.

I think psychologically it would be beneficial if it was a language that was not forced on Black/African people by their oppressors.

Look at the English language and how anything prefixed with the word "black" is negative. Believe it or not it creates a subconscious, negative association to everything black. Blackmail. Blackball, Blacklist, ect...

If black people speak an Afrocentric language we can get rid of all of that.

This isn't our language so why hold on to it so tightly.

Yeah, that's a lame idea in my opinion. Usually if I want to talk to a black person then I'll talk to them. I don't need to learn a language (even though I know a few words & phrases in Swahili) to communicate.

Swahili is about 45% Arabic. I'ts not an authentic African language. Some of you need to research.
