Nope. They reviewed the game as though GTA Online didn't exist... Because at the time it didn't. But this stuff happens every time - why do people still get mad about it

there's kinda another part to it though. aside from the technical issues with MP, what if the MP just isn't that good? (a general statement, and not about Rockstar or this game in particular)

Rockstar definitely created this situation by releasing the MP later, and I'm not sure what reviewers should have done. Angry Joe at least mentioned that his review could change based on MP

I think it should be two separate reviews. But I think that should always be the case too. Or even more importantly, just remove scores from the equation altogether. In reading a well-written review, I can tell what the reviewer thinks about the different components of the game without needing a score to affirm that.

One billion in three days

And what should happen to Rockstar and why? Would you have waited to buy the game later or cheaper if you knew this was going to happen?
I knew someone would say this.

It's fine that in 2013 we don't hold companies to standards and we are extremely tolerant of being charged high prices for subpar services. Its fine that athletes and musicians make tons of money in four hours and can go outside and slap a fan with no repercussions. It is what it is huh bro?

Me personally, I may have waited to buy the game when it was worth less if I knew my experience with it wasn't going to be worth the price. I could give a fukk about the single player.

Also... Idk what should happen to Rockstar. Maybe some sort of price cut.? It's called standards and services. If I get a 12 inch ham and cheese sandwich and all I get on my sandwich is ham and it's 11.45 inches, I should be fine with that I guess huh?

If you could give a fukk about single player why did you not wait to buy it? That's what you should have done. That's what I would have done. Rockstar is not slapping you in the face or shorting you on your ham and cheese sandwich. They said here's your ham and cheese sandwich and actually you're gonna get another sandwich for free but our oven is broken so you're gonna have to come back in a couple days to redeem it. If you bought the first sandwich for the free one, then you should have waited until the oven was ready.

I do think people are way too apathetic about this shyt. so much so that somehow you are wrong for being disappointed with what happened

I kept seeing a lot of comparisons to what happened with Diablo 3 and Sim City. fukk those games too. is there where we set the bar? "at least it wasn't as bad as those other disastrous releases?"

is it really that bad or wrong to want or expect something better?

Confidential Informants
All this has revealed is that Rockstar is nowhere near the GOAT company that people especially on here try to make them out to be.

Theres never been an online console fukk up as big as this no matter how many people come in here and tell some story that this happens all the time on online launches. Thats just not true, I've never seen a console game where the majority of users on both systems couldnt even get into a single online match in the first 24 hours. Especially with a 2 week delay, this is unprecedented.

if you all keep enjoying getting fukked in the ass by rockstar so much other companies will follow suit

the single player game is an 8 at best, its not that good I still haven't finished simply because its not that fun to play
I just stole the cars from the trust fun crackers, and still haven't been impressed by this game.
Sleeping Dogs blows this shyt out of the water easily, game was pure fan from the start

Diablo 3 and Sim City should have been and were absolutely RAILED. You know why? Because they knew those problems would exist but still made the game ONLINE-ONLY. You couldn't play anything at all. Rockstar knew problems would exist but had no such intentions to make the game online only. In fact the online is treated by them as more of a bonus. The single player GTAV has more content (not just gameplay content but music, environments, animations, VO etc) than any other single player campaign I can think of. Not having a hitch-free online launch is really not that big of a deal in my eyes.

That said, everyone has their right to be disappointed for whatever reason. I get that. But some of the posters have been acting like those that aren't are sheep.

its pussies like you who accept shyt like this why companies continue to put out unfinished games with the attitude 'we'll just fix it later'

I respect the analogy but there's also a learning curve. Your not going to buy a game on day one and know what your doing. That's why many people bought it on day one. These multi player marches are competitive and running around getting clapped and not knowing what your doing is..... Aggravating at times. So Imean a day oone cop is almost standard procedure.

if someone has a great idea for an online-only game, should they not attempt it because there might be issues? should they be forced into creating an offline mode? (those questions are separate from those particular games, and whether or not Sim City/D3 would work offline)

Rockstar should have just called this a "beta". it wouldn't change anything, except people's expectations
