@staticshock What happened- did ManagerBrehTM call you back?

I applied to other jobs because I thought picked someone else..but he called me Monday while I was waiting to be interviewed for another company and told me that he was out of town last week and that’s why I didn’t hear from him & that I’m still at the top of his list and he will call me by the end of this week for a final decision.

I currently work in the education field and love it but I’m only an assistant and the pay is ass (20k). I’ll be making 43K with this technician gig. I was talking to one of my principals and she said I should take the engineering job to stack my bread up and do an online teaching degree because there will always be a need for teachers, & especially for male teachers.

I think that’s what I’ll do if the engineering breh decides to hire me this week

No, don't call, he said he'd let you know by the end of the week-give him his time to speak with other candidates and make the decision. Don't add more pressure just send a thoughtful Thank you email.

I have had interviews where they simply don't tell you "yes" or "no". I assume it's obviously a "no" in that instance, but still, its rude as fukk! I even went to one interview where they wanted to hire me, had me come in from out of state begging me to come in, and then they cancelled the job requisition meaning that the job opening was cancelled. now that's some bullshyt.

that said, for the follow up, I typically will email them to thank them for having me in and whether or not they've made a decision. I only do this if I haven't heard back in like a week or so.

Right, if you are in demand and blow them away with your skills at the interview, you don't have to do all the little stunts. They will rush to get back to you and hurry up and try to get you in before another company grabs you.

I agree, but if he's equally qualified with the other candidates, then following up could be what puts him over the top.

Employers dragging their damn feet like this is really frustrating to me right now. I been out of work for 2 months having to wait a damn week after telephone interviews just to see if they have decided on a face to face :mjcry:

You mean like ghosting? It's only happened to me in a handful of preliminary (post-phone call) rounds but yeah it's rude as shyt. I alway follow up regardless though, esp since I have stuff for them to read.
lol it's "only" happened to you a few times? It's like the standard for me

yes, exactly like ghosting. but when it comes to jobs, it's INFURIATING cuz we're talking about business, and we're both supposed to be professionals.

I'll do u one worse. I drove down here to texas for a job interview last year after they begged me to interview in person and basically insured I'd get the job. so I do the interview which goes well and then I don't hear jack shyt after.

come to find out, they cancel the entire job requisition and don't even inform me of what happeend until I reach out to them. :camby:

Technically I got ghosted by my last job because the HR provider didn’t want to pay for my transcript before I got hired-I reached out and sent it to them myself though. Other than that it’s weird when roles contact you and then go silent, I can’t complain now because I’m in final rounds that have been going fast but yeah some firms have zero professionalism.
I'd love to work where it's not the norm....most HR managers won't call you back if you weren't chosen. That has to be the norm because it's happened to me so often.

Even after final rounds and in-person interviews?
Absolutely. It's basically the expectation. If you don't get a call back then there's your answer :yeshrug:

I've only had an interviewer call me back personally like 5 times and even though it was disappointing to hear (because when someone calls me back I'm usually expecting them to say I got the job), I respect the hell out of that. Places will have you feeling like you gotta beg and shyt calling them everyday and shyt, stressing over how long the decision process takes and all that. Sometimes they'll even tell you during the interview they'll call you if you don't get the job, only to not call you. I hate that

I'm making a major move so pay was discussed before any of the bullshyt happened. I mean prior to the interview. once they determined I was within range, I was good. then after they offered I tried to squeeze them twice for more money. the first time it worked. the second they said :whoa:

that said, I accepted the offer.

legit companies have other companies set up to verify eduation, salary and references. no use of even lying about this shyt when they can check it.
