I've always heard notions that when you die, your consciousness gets put on pause until the actual shyt (Judgement Day) happens, so it's like the minute you die the transition from alive to dead to Judgement day is like seconds regardless of how long you been dead before it happens. Care to explain this sample punishment a bit more?

Basically, it's similar to what you said before for the rewarded.

Instead of the agonizing wait it's said they're grave will be widened very wide and spacious. Nice fragrance. They will be shown the hellfire they avoided and shown an opening to Paradise afterwards. They will see its brilliance. Then they will be able to rest peacefully until the Day of Judgement.

So it's easy & quick for them while the other has no rest. Even if its been 1000 years.
