Current job: ~$59k total pay

pros:
-pays more
-not that much work
-unlimited time off

cons:
-I hate the company culture
-I'm not learning any skills to take elsewhere
-nightshift

Job offer: $51,000
pros:
-Better company culture
-Much more technical role
-10x4 schedule and normal work hours
-Can interview for a higher role after 6 months to get a raise + yearly merit raises

cons:
-Less pay when I am responsible for most of
-Grass is greener syndrome
-If I don't like this current job, can't go back

My qualifications are high school and a couple certifications so these types of jobs are hard to come by for someone like me, that's why I have to deeply consider taking this offer or not.

if you want change go with the new job

old job looks safe enough to develop a new set of skills on the side, you could even save up bit depends on what you want , nightshift is proably huring your body so i see why you would want a change in work time :manny:

A 7k paycut? No Way

Your job search is not complete, keep looking

don't rely on the job to teach you new skills, teach yourself, oyuhave unlimited time off

I did learn new skills, but its not a replacement for working in a production environment. If I can stay down for 1-2 years I can ask for a promotion
internally or go somewhere else for more. I got lucky at my current job and knew I would take a paycut to go somewhere to implement the skills I've learned.
Thing is I am single and don't have any kids so the paycut won't hurt too much.

Which certs do you have?
I have a Net+ &CCNA, but I only got the interview cuz my co-worker's husband referred me. Certs + referral/experience get your foot in the door, not one but both.

Bet on yourself :blessed:

From your post that seems to be role #2.

long term income >short term income

Yeah, I think about staying where I'm at, but I'm young and really need to build on my skills. This higher pay for little work is like golden handcuffs and I don't want to be trapped because of the money. There are guys here 2x my age who can do that because they have the experience, but I dont and its not good for my personal development.

Hating the culture, not building any new skills and working overnight would be enough for me to jump ship. You’re considering it for a reason, take the chance on something new and build your skills then get that promo or jump ship to better opportunities.

You're vastly under-valuing a gig that pays you 60K a year without over-working you and lets you set your own schedule (the American dream).

I've got some bad news for you -- you're not gonna like the "culture" at the next place either.

Unless you hate your current managers, stay where you are.

HELL
Second shift is the woat. You can't have any life working 2nd shift. Night shift is great for a single person.
It would seem so, but lately a lot of fun shyt happens after 9-10 pm especially on Fridays, and I have to miss out because of work
