Modern cars have block heaters so it not necessary to warm up longer+ driving warms up the car more then idle. Just make sure don't drive the car hard until you see the temp gauge move up.

It's not necessary. There's no difference between starting your car in summer and starting your car in winter.
Unless you are in arctic weather, the only reason to warm up the engine is so that it gets hot so the heater starts pumping out hot air. That's it. You could switch to synthetic oil if you think the cold oil is going to ruin the engine internals. You can get a block heater and plug that into an outlet every night. That just keeps the oil warm.
You can start your car and go.

I usually put mine in drive when it's over 100F
