Should parents be charged for their children's crimes? With the recent school shooting that took place in Michigan, they're looking to charge the parents. *edit for purchasing the weapon.**

Do yall think parents should be charged for their kids' crimes? This includes carjackings, home invasion, burglary, robbing, shootings, homicides/murders (we talked about the kid who was shot 18 times in Philly), etc.

I hear ppl say ppl need better parenting...Is this ONE solution? It holds the parent(s) responsible.

Some people would think twice if they knew the price for taking someone's child was watching their mother get put on the rack until her limbs were pulled from her body :hubie:

If you buy a weapon for your child, your child shows obvious signs of wanting to use said weapon against people, when the school brings troubling signs to your attention, you ignore them and fight to have the school disregard them, and your child proceeds to kill a bunch of people that same day............

Yes you should for your role in the crime.

:yeshrug:I don't really know if, as a parent, I would not expect to get no consequence at all for something my child does.

I will say that I'm constantly telling my kids that others often bear the consequences of their actions...NONE of us acts without affecting our environment in some way.

If my kids are playing outside and they bust the window out someone's car, that person might definitely get mad at them, but I and the other adult understand they will ultimately be taking the matter up with my husband and I.

There would be action taken to repair said window, and we would still be involved in the process- even though we weren't even physically there when the damage happened. Parents, at least from what I see, rarely get off without bearing some consequence of what our offspring do, especially under 18. This is the nature of life as humans.

So if there is a certain level of expectation of property damage...I can't imagine I would get off 100% unscathed if my kid shot up a school.

I think we often wonder about what we would do if someone hurt our kids (at least I do), but I don't know if we ever consider what we would do if it was our kid who was hurting someone else, at least on this scale.

OAN, don't dog owners whose dogs maim and kill others incur a charge on behalf of their pet? Though these are animals, I don't think the idea extending to humans, in certain circumstances, would be too incredible.
