I think it would have the kid think twice. “I don’t want my mom to go to jail” ir whatever the penalty is
I forget the data but child psychopaths exist independently of abuse or trauma.

With that said adults need to stop this “it takes a village” stuff- if the village is shyt, what are some incentives to hold people accountable for their direct offspring into the Earth? Skirting away from the one inevitable eugenics convo but child brain are not developed enough to fully understand consequences, which is why we don’t charge them as adults. But hold the adults responsible in a real way.

Case by case basis. After reading the entire article (and assuming everything is true) I don’t see how you could not think the parents share responsibility for their son’s crime.

They need to be punished. The question is how severe should their punishment be. Due to their extreme negligence, 4 teens are gone forever.

Kamala Harris arrested Black Parents for far less, like missing school because the child was sick:

2. Harris Locked Up African Parents Because Their Children Missed School
As San Francisco’s district attorney, Harris also charged, criminalized and imprisoned African parents because their children were truant, meaning they regularly missed school. Once she became attorney general in 2011, she persuaded the state legislature to adopt harsher penalties for truancy. Under the new law, parents of a truant child could be fined $2,500 or more, or face one year in jail.

At her attorney general inauguration Harris stated, “If you fail in your responsibility to your kids, we are going to work to make sure you face the full force and consequences of the law.”

Locking parents up, however, further feeds the problem of mass incarceration of Africans and other colonized people. It does not address the root causes of why students may miss out on school in the first place.

Cheree Peoples was arrested in April 2013 for her daughter’s truancy, even though her daughter’s sickle cell caused her to miss school.
Harris’ truancy law ignored the effects that colonialism and parasitic capitalism have on Africans and other colonized people. It had no regard for the poverty, health issues and other social issues that we endure which causes our kids to miss school.

This was a purely anti-African law that functioned to put money into the State and send our people to jail.

I'm pretty sure I stated harsh, violent crimes that can traumatize or lead to the deaths of others. Softer crimes might need a fine, community service, counseling, etc.--shoplifting (under $50) dollars. Smash and grab...I'm sure the parents have an idea if they see their kids suddenly with LV gear, Gucci, Rolexes.

if the parents participate or tangibly contribute. like the michigan shooters parents contributed. I don't think people should be charged because "that's how they was raised" because you can't gauge that.

As a non parent and someone who aspires to remain childless, yes. Depending on if they nurtured their gun obsession and how young they are. Also a lot of these little crazy fukkers still have reverence for their parents. I'm sure if they knew their parents were also on the hook for their mass shooting they wouldn't do it.
The gun argument is cultural very difficult to tell whether it’s family or individual or cultural. In entire regions it is cultural. Or societal.

direct action only, if you're teen steals a car and crashes it killing someone you shouldn't be charged

now if it's proven you gave the teen access to drugs and alcohol and then the same happened then yes consequences should be faced
