I value peak and prime more than sustained longevity. I know he had a short career, but leading the league in receptions three times, yards once, and TD's twice, while being first-team all-pro three times should be enough to get him in.

I value prime and peak more than longevity, especially if the players with longevity were not "dominant".

I don't know if I disagree with you, but what you said is likely accurate. He's going to have an even tougher time getting in with the numbers players are putting up now.


Calvin Johnson had a very similar career, and people try to argue he's the GOAT..

His career ended at 29 but that's kind of the year when most players would enter their downslope anyway. It's very likely we saw the best years of Sharpe's career and he was great.

He has just as much of an argument as Calvin Johnson but the fact that he hasn't played in nearly 30 years and with cats like Reggie Wayne Torry **** Anquan Boldin Chad Johnson etc. with better numbers and still not in his chance's aren't good at this point.

I think he can get in if he’s viewed only amongst his peers and not compared to WRs and RBs. But they don’t vote them in by position so it’s a less than 50% chance.
