That's what the House is for (unfortunately, the House has been gerrymandered by Republicans). The Senate serves it's purpose of giving small states and rural areas a larger voice in the government.

Ideally, the Senate should be abolished but it's not going to happen obviously :yeshrug:

It makes states irrelevant. We become on big nation rather than a union of states.
Which i believe it what liberals really want.
Centralized power is their M.O.
But what about senators according to population, let’s say Wyoming 1 and Texas 12. And to your points it would make states irrelevant, aren’t states just a collection of people:jbhmm: so why should a few have more say than the many:jbhmm:

We are a union of states not people... its in the name, United States.
As for your question why would wyoming and the rest of the low pop states ever agree to this?:leostare:
Seems like a pipe dream.

:russ:When it was weak, the left was keenly interested in liberty and the rights of the minority. But now with power just exceeding its grasp, on the verge of flipping the Senate, the left wants to change the rules
fukk the little guy, majority rule!
You hate to see it:wow:

That's a cop out. Conservatives know that they have an unfair advantage in the senate due to overrepresentation. It's the same reason they're against allowing Puerto Rico and D.C. To have representation in the senate.

The little guy is fukking over the big guy thanks to the lopsided representation. They get a lopsided supreme Court and tax laws in their favor such as removing pmi from the list of deductibles. Blue state homeowners saw thier taxes go way up because of those tax "cuts".

No. I know it's not exactly fair to large states, but senators are there to represent states, not populations. Unfortunately, the Senate has too much power. There needs to be a reform of Senate rules to prevent what McConnell is doing.

The problem is that Senators no longer represent state interests. They represent party platforms.

The Senate no longer represents states, it represents political parties and multinational corporations.

maybe those weirdos who wanted to split california into three states were onto something. if norcal and socal became seperate states... :jbhmm:
I love the idea of Puerto Rico and DC getting their statehood and senators

:mjlol: at talking about the rights of the "minority" while defending a system that was blatantly designed to give white voters a disproportionate amount of voting power

:patrice:I think its the other way... currently black voters hold enormous sway.
Seeking a majority rule system when your 12% of the pop seems like a deathwish.
