Eliminating charging =/= Eliminating offensive fouls

The charge is a dangerous play that gets people hurt. There are too many plays where guys are sliding underneath a guy who's in the air already trying to get the call.

If the player is already in the air before the defender sets his feet, it is not a charge.......

Throughout the playoffs, we've seen what the NBA looks like when the defense can, you know, play defense. And now y'all wanna make it even MORE lenient for the offense?

I give up.

You get rid of the charging call and the game is gonna get ugly and to physical real fast. Players with size advantages would just be going through smaller players with no fear of getting a foul called against them. Someone would get badly injured if they ended up doing this. But it is one of the most controversial plays in basketball because it's basically a judgment call. And while I don't think they can correct it anymore than they have it is a good rule to have.

If you aren't making a defensive basketball play ie: defending the person or ball, should getting in the way of an offensive play be allowed?

Natural charges I agree with as the player being defended tries to go through the defender instead of making an offensive move around the defenders position. Standing with your hands at the sides or covering your groin is not my definition of a basketball move.

Essentially getting in the way is a defensive tactic and takes away from the excitement and competitiveness of the sport.

How much more help do you want for Lebron?? :upsetfavre:

:why:

Bro... whether it gets called correctly isn't the issue. The problem that I have is that it's dangerous and can get somebody seriously hurt. If you take it out of the game, you won't have idiots basically bridging players who are attacking the rim.

Taking a charge isn't the only way to play defense.

MJ was a great defender, I don't remember him being great at taking charges. Same with Pippen etc.

Contesting shots at the rim isn't making it more lenient on the offense either.

MJ used hand checks

That has been removed from the league for a decade now.

How do you prevent lebron from running a 40 down the lane if you
a) can't hand check him
b) can't play in front of him because impeding ANY progress is a foul
c) can't draw a charge

If Lebron lowers his shoulder, or uses a forearm shove to create space then it's a foul.

Why does the defender have to be standing straight up with his hands covering his nuts for a foul to be called? That shyt is retarded. The refs should be able to deem when an offensive player is creating an unfair advantage without a guy falling to the ground every time.

ing nikkas all day :whoo:

Notice how that guy has a helmet and pads on :beli:.

Bron is big, strong, and tough but he's still a human being. Running through nikkas with pads on once a week takes a lot out of nikkas :usure: doing that shyt 82 times (back to backs, 4 games in 5 nights) with no pads is realistic? There is a reason he doesn't just put his head down and go to the hole with reckless abandon on every play now and it's not because of charges it's because he wants to play for a long time.

You take away/limit charges and you will just see more hard fouls. Like others have said you would have to give defense more leeway (hand checking, meeting in the air, restricted area).
