That's a very slippery slope. IMO if a woman is found to have blatantly lied about being raped I think jail time sets a terrible precedent. On the other hand, the person who was accused will have that tag on them forever even though if they're exonerated. I have to think on it some more.

I see people saying this but what is the justification behind it? How does liars being prosecuted prevent someone who isn't lying from coming forward? Even more importantly why is a man's right to justice expected to take a back seat to an imaginary hypothetical situation?

It's not just rape though. The problem is the same misandry that affects men when it comes to false rape accusations aplies to things like false abuse claims. I know men who have been falsely accused and had their educations and reputations tarnished. But I know even more who have been accused of putting their hands on women including myself.
