With ratings at an alltime low and attendance numbers dwindling, should the WWE bring back edgy storylines and more violent matches? I mean what do they have to lose? I mean of course some fsns will complain and they'll lose a few sponsors but sometimes you have to go through drastic measures if you want results. Some people will talk about how social media has changed society and people have gotten too sensitive so the WWE cant get away with some of the things they could get away with 10-15 years ago, But even back then people were complaining and they didn't care. And it's not like you dont have Tv shows or movies out today that dont offend people. You cant let a small vocal minority dictate what you can or cannot do thats what's wrong with society today. If people dont like something they can turn the channel, instead of ruining things for other people.

Attitude era was a hotshot strategy, it won't help, wrestling is wayy too finished to come back to its glory days. MMA completely took over. Plus you can't just come up with a new the rock, steve austin, undertaker outta nowhere. Those were the people that MADE wwe attitude era.

Just give us good fukking storylines. No cornball edgy shyt like they did in the AE. Stuff that's actually MATURE and entertaining.

And I think some violence/brutality should be brought back as well. These gimmick matches (HIAC in particular) are usually :russell: without some crazy shyt happening.

I honestly don’t think the ratings decline has anything to do with the product, nor are they as important as some of you seem to believe.

I think the way people consume pro wrestling as a whole is continuing to change, and will NEVER be like it was before. I’d argue that network subscriptions are way more telling/important in this era than tv ratings..

WWE’s live attendance being garbage is a bigger cause for concern than tv ratings

How many of you even watch this shyt on tv? I’ve been a weekly viewer for the last 10 years, and I haven’t had cable for at least 6 years now.. according to tv ratings I don’t exist..

The pro wrestling fall off reminds me of the reaction to record sales taking a giant dive before streaming was figured into the equation.

Same people ain't watching shyt. They tuning out. Baron Corbin is the focus? They damn sure tuning out. Smackdown has everything working against it especially after they had a horrible show like Raw dominate Smackdown at Surivivor Series. Sent a silly message to fans worldwide. .

I think the main problem is they can’t create new stars. Outside of Punk and Bryan, who has been a major star that the fans actually respected?

The ratings are in the toilet cause there’s no more than two or three characters you want to see every week.
AJ maybe but he was well established before signing with the WWE.

Also, since WWE is PG I don’t see those days ever returning. They don’t need to try to re live the AE, cause it’s never gonna work. Just work with what you have.

Even if you have cable/satellite, you're not counted for ratings unless you have a Nielsen box or participate in their survey system.

You can't bring back the attitude era. It was a period in time.

The best you can do is bring back elements of the Attitude Era. More freedom with characters...less overbranding...less overscripting and focus on getting talent over. WWE isn't trying to have wrestlers be the draw...they want WWE to be the draw. Stop actin lazy and get rid of the shytty writers...and get a booking committee. Have creative work with wrestlers to develop characters and storylines. Everyone should get TV time. Stop dropping the ball on people who are organically over like Rusev was...like Cesaro was...like Ziggler was...etc etc.

They could never duplicate the attitude era or any other great era, if they could then the ruthless aggression era would be the one to go after. Smackdown 02-06 is exactly how wrestling should be with great wrestling/storylines. The problem is now Vince has nothing but failed Hollywood writers and Road Dogg writing this bullshyt.

Agreed.

Going a little further, I think they purposefully haven't created any new stars in over 10 years which put them in a position where now they can't. In years past, once you reached the top and got the wwe title, you were a made man and a legit superstar even if you never got there again.

Guys like Kane (one day reign) and Foley (his total reigns combine to like 28 days) are etched in history. Now you have multiple time champs across both rosters and not one true superstar in sight (sans Bryan - who they reluctantly put there for a split second and won't ever get put in that position again).
