always thought signs was his best film. he did an excellent job creating tension and suspense, when the alien walked by in that birthday video the entire theatre jumped out of their seat.

but man, wtf was he thinking writing a character in lady in the water thats an unlikeable film critic and have him killed. a fukk you to critics, the people that can make or break a film? so dumb.

M. Knight Shyamalan = Over 2.5 Billion at the Box Office.

I don't think he even cares what critics think honestly. People either love M. Knight or they hate him but the fact is he had impact in the game with his Twist, concepts and box office success. The critics have it out for him though since "The Village".

#1 . THE SIXTH SENSE = A+ (CLASSIC)
#2 . UNBREAKABLE = B+ (I think it's a Classic in the comic book film genre)
#3 . SIGNS = B
#4 . AFTER EARTH = C+
#5 . THE VILLAGE = C+
#6 . THE HAPPENING = C -
#7 . THE LAST AIRBENDER = D
#8 . LADY IN THE WATER = D

M. Knight gets hate because of his arrogance and the fact that he is not white...

All of his movies, no matter how good or bad, were all directed very well from a technical standpoint. He pieces scenes together and builds drama better than most..

However, his writing and his ability to tell a great story has fallen off....

Still, he is the one hollywood guy out of a few that still tries to go against the grain and I respect that...

Honestly 'The Sixth Sense' is over-rated. People are blinded by the twist and concept of the film - its pacing, acting and dialogue was pretty questionable in parts.

:deadrose: His movies are incredibly generic and soulless, even for Hollywood.

Nah. To each his own but I disagree....

If his productions were soulless, no one would be discussing him with this type of fervor.....good, bad or indifferent....

So obviously something is there..It may not suit everyone's palate but something is definitely there...

The Last Airbender was proof of what a shytty director he is. I mean he had the great source material right there in front of him, all he had to do was copy and paste from the cartoon into a movie format...and yet he still somehow fukked it up. :snoop:

I said pretty much the same thing yesterday. Even his movies that weren't good has still made money at the box office and that's probably all he cares about. The press and the critics were the ones who put this pressure on M.Night to be this great film director because his first three movies ranged from great to good. I think his twists were something that hadn't been done in a while and was fresh with the audience. And he just got lucky that his first few films happened to be good. Then I think he started to use the shock twist as a crutch to much for his movies.

Because he's in the ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS... Key word... *BUSINESS*...

"The Sixth Sense" - Cost $40 Million - Made $670 Million ($630 Million in Profit)
"Ubreakable - Cost $70 Million - Made $250 Million ($180 Million In Profit)
"Signs - Cost $70 - Made $400 Million ($330 Million in Profit)
"The Village - Cost $70 Million - Made $250 Million ($180 Million in Profit)
"Lady In The Water" - Cost $75 Million - Made $70 Million ($5 Million Loss)
"The Happening" - Cost $60 Million - Made $165 Million ($105 Million in Profit)
"The Last Airbender" - Cost $150 Million - Made $320 Million ($170 Million in Profit)
"Devil" - Cost $10 Million - Made $60 Million ($50 Million in Profit)

8 Movies... 1 Flop... probably 2 after the numbers come back from "After Earth"...

Say what you want about his movies... people go to see them. His movies make way more money then they cost so a studio hiring him hasn't been bad business... :manny:
