You know it's possible to hate something because of how generic and soulless it is, right?
If we're talking about polarizing artists, you are correct: it may not suit everyone's palate but something is definitely there.
But this isn't the case with Shyamalan. He's not polarizing like 50% love it/50% hate it, he's universally panned like 6% "love" (?) it/94% hate it.
Having haters can mean that you're doing something shytty as fukk. You can't say "Oh, well if he was that shytty, nobody would talk about him at all." Wrong.

Your movies don't gross 2.5 Billion and 94% of the people hate it. It's obvious people like M. Knight's movies or they wouldn't keep going back to them over and over again. Also the critics don't get it right all the time. They called "Unbreakable" average when it came out and now it's universally loved and even called a Classic in some circles.

cant remember where i even saw it now, but read somewhere that the movie has absolutely nothing to do with aliens. they were manifestations of everyones personal demons, that were only visible to the person who was fighting it at the time. im BUTCHERING this theory, and it deserves its own thread, but it all centered around when the "alien" was trapped in the pantry.
