Shyheim should've had a classic album produced by RZA in like 1999

He said when he was young he was only trying to do certain roles and not appear like a sell out. He expressed some regret about that. If memory serves he didn’t even want to be in the Waterfalls video and basically had to be forced into it.
“Keeping it real”/not appearing as a sellout has to be one of the worst decisions people make in terms of long term moves.

Agreed but we have to remember both the time period AND the fact that he was a kid. “Selling out” was a huge taboo back then.
Oh nah. I’m not hating on it at all lol, I’m just making the statement. I was essentially the same way until I was damn near mid 30s, in regards to not wanting to “kiss ass” or whatever at a corporate job and whatnot.

I used to see Shy in the studio a lot. And RNS was definitely holding him down with a lot of dope tracks from '93-'96, but a whole project entirely produced by RZA during that era, would've totally changed Shy's legacy. '99 would've been too late for him.
