A Las Vegas sports memorabilia company this month put up for sale a signed photo of O.J. Simpson it says was part of the armed robbery that landed the former footballer and Miami resident in prison for nine years.

On Tuesday, a buyer put a deposit on the photo, according to a publicist for Inscriptagraphs, the memorabilia company based at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The price tag: $799. She said the buyer has a week to pay for the memorabilia before it can be listed for sale again.

With Simpson’s release scheduled for as early as October, Inscriptagraphs listed the photo showing him as a 20-year-old track runner at the University of Southern California in 1967. The framed 8-by-10 photo of Simpson has a certificate of authenticity and an evidence card from the sheriff’s department.

A portion of the proceeds from the photo’s sale will be donated to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, according to Inscriptagraphs. :francis:

In addition to Simpson, the photo is signed by Bruce Fromong, one of the sports memorabilia collectors robbed inside a room at the Palace Station hotel in 2007. It was one of 534 items that Simpson was trying to retrieve during the incident, according to Fromong’s description on the frame.

This summer, Nevada parole commissioners voted for the release of Simpson, 70, from the Lovelock Correctional Center in Carson City as early as Oct. 1. That’s when he would have completed the minimum of his nine-to-33-year armed-robbery sentence for the hotel incident.

During the hearing, which was broadcast live on TV networks nationwide July 20, Simpson said he planned to return to Florida, where he lived in Kendall for seven years with the two children he had with Nicole Brown Simpson. Those children now reportedly live in the Tampa Bay area.
