Let's put things in perspective. That professional quality did not come out of own pockets, the label got his song on nationwide radio, and the label put him on a platform where he can make show money.
You really think those 500M views are grassroot? They invested in dude and its paying dividends. Without the label he wasn't making $100k in a year. Money was spent to make that record hot.

Sham!? Depends. They created Vevo to have better control of the ad money. Second, one doesn't just upload a video to Vevo. A label with top notch distribution gets to submit videos for Vevo. Most people do not even know how Vevo works. It's an algorithm. Nothing is random in big league music industry.
