You do have to be a stupid hypocrite to give Simone Biles a pass for withdrawing for mental health reasons but ignoring the litany of trying mental situations and stresses that world class athletes are introduced daily. You realize that it’s possible to praise athletes for dealing with intense pressure situations while also acknowledging that they’re human, sometimes deal with issues that go beyond sports and not fall into the lazy “they’re mentally weak” narrative when they fall short, right?

Why would she be shocked and confused about what happened if she had already admitted beforehand that she didn't even want to go in the first place? She flat out stated that she didn't want to go and was just ready to get the Olympics over with.

When you go somewhere with that mindset, of course things could potentially go wrong and that's what exactly happened. Again, she just did not want to be there and admitted as much. I would give her the benefit of a doubt if she wouldn't have made those comments beforehand.
