Thanx... something still isnt sitting right in my gut about these numbers... but like u said, confirmation bias is a muthafuka lol...
I literally just feel like if me and u just randomly pulled 10 black women of a certain age off the street... at least 5 would be single mothers, never married... 2 wouldn't have kids... and 2 would have kids but divorced... and 1 would be married.
You said not all blacks live the stereotypical "black life/experience" but can we agree that the majority do...only meaning that most grow up below the middle class line..
Where drugs and violence are at an abundance.
If this is so... then how are there numbers saying that through all the drugs, violence and black men in and out of jail. There are less single black mothers than u think u see?
All this could very well be true tho
I'm trying to think about it b/c numbers do lie. But it's always suspicious that they never give u the raw numbers of blk chicks with kids.

I think it depends on where u are. If I pulled 10 blk chicks at random from Walmart then about 6 would be single moms, but if I pulled 10 blk chicks from the university I work at none would be single moms. 10 from a middle to lower class neighborhood and maybe 3 would. 10 from the hood 5.

Also keep in mind there are only about 10-11 million black children in America right now. We are only 12% of the population.

It's very easy for 4 million blk women (20%) to have 10 million children, especially if these women are having 2-4 kids on average.

That small number of children shocked me too. The way the media tells it and blk babies with no fathers are EVERYWHERE, just crawling out of every corner, just bumrushing packed crammed urban neighb-

No. Black culture is sometimes larger than life and isn't a representation of our numbers. This is what it means to be a minority. This country is largely white. In our neighborhoods they look all blk everything but even cities with the highest percentages of blks like Detroit only have about 500,000 blks. So u look at single mother rates, that 4 million makes sense. A lot of dudes only see blk single moms b/c of where they live not b/c nationwide the majority of black women are single moms.:francis:

It's important to reflect on data produced about our community b/c blacks literally weaponizing lies about ourselves to bash each other.

Take a look at page 8 of the chart below. Most cities barely even break over one million blk people. It really puts stuff into perspective.

No problem. It's just frustrating to listen to blk use racist talking points about blks and get finessed by the media.

Meanwhile our birth rates have been low for a while and more and more people are choosing to be childless.

We gotta start thinking critically about stuff produced about our community. Whites have always held this myth of the overly fecund poor blks as a rallying call to make whites afraid of having too many blks around.

It's sad to see BLKS picking up that racist banner and misinterpreting our stats for personal issues. It's like those myths they used to put out about their being more blk dudes in jail than in college or some shyt I used to here.

We got issues but we have to clear the lies and rejects willing to use those lies for their own agenda out b4 we can take honest inventory of our community and fix it. Blacks have been here since the beginnings of America. There's absolutely no reason other than anti-family/childbirth and other white machinations that our numbers shouldn't be larger.

But sterilization programs, castration and torture, murder, drugs and an entire media smear campaign about our community demonizes childbirth and all aspects of it.

We can't afford to be in the dark.:francis:

The reason why im debating so hard is because... i dont watch the news, watch music videos.... and for the most part i dnt know shyt about social media..
I just go by what ive experience.
I dont even go by statistics... because it always feels like the ppl creating the numbers have some motive... but stats can be a great tool.
So in my personal life, and obviously i dnt represent every black male, i knew more ppl who were raised by there mother, or grandparent then a traditional 2 family househould. and the vast majority of those situations were black single mothers.
Even you mentioning the part about more black dudes being in jail, than in college. U saying that is a myth is shocking to me, because again... in my experience ive known more black males to go to jail than enrolled in college...
shytttt, come to think about it.,, maybe my life is just fukked up lmao

The myth that there are more black men in prison than in college, debunked in one chart

Yep. Now think about how many blk chicks use that mess as a line to validate their own romantic failures.
I grew up in a mid to poor Southern blk neighborhood. Mostly working class blacks. People were construction workers, painters, secretaries. We all had times when lights might have been turned off or other utilities. But out of the many blk men in that neighborhood, only about 2 blks on my street did jail time. One family across the street had a chick with a bunch of babies and we used to grow food and give it to them.

Thug culture has hijacked the image of blks in America. We view ourselves primarily in terms of the struggle b/c we weren't Beverly Hills rich and still aren't. But why don't we ever hear about the other 70% of blks who aren't in dire straights. Sure we have higher poverty rates than some other groups in America, but we've been demonized so much that we've accepted a culture of deficiency and dysfunctionality as our uniform.

We never hear good things about our community. That's by design. This is a war that has been fought with words just as much as it has been fought with rope and bullets. They want us depressed. It's apart of the internalization process whites do to minorities to make them desolate. Whites lie until what they say is true all while employing a series of political and economic and violent tactics to validate their lies.

I've said this here before but white lies create realities. This myth that nearly every blk chick around is a single mom is one of those lies. The Precious narrative gotta stop.

Personally i think this guys an absolute fool but a comendable one.
It could never be me but he actually gets SOME of my respect for giving a black child a family and a father figure.
I think what im trying to say is im both disgusted at the man but happy for the child.

What if the Baby Daddy was killed while she was pregnant and the guy proposing was there thru it all helping her emotionally and then it just developed into falling in love?

:jbhmm:
Depends on why and how he was killed. If she dated some drug dealing gangsta then I question her judgement in the first place.
