I think part of what's going on here is he would owe his partners, and his sponsors so he actually would only be possibly getting hundreds of millions. It would be the end of what they've been working on for a while, and essentially split the team up. But I would have been like "PEACE", and ya'll would not have been able to find me.

Well the tweet in the OP was sent to the CEO so I'd think if it wasn't true they would've come out and debunked it .

I also just listened to a podcast interview Evan Spiegel did with the BBC and he's looking at making revenue by using a Chinese developer as a model. He mentioned they are fine with staying independent.
