But come on, an app to send pics and vids that erase themselves after a few seconds. The idea alone could be replicated or even implemented in existing apps. And it's so simple that it's brilliant. But SC is not like facebook or others similar apps when you need to build a network (LinkedIn, Twitter, G+, Baidu, Waze etc.), and where people ARE the product. The product here is an idea like thousands exist and are created every weeks. Snapchat looks like every other type of message sending apps except the messages erase themselves. That's why people don't understand.
For me, the only way for Snapchat to really become a factor is if it organizes itself in order to create some kind of anon network. People growing tired of Google+ and FB's policies of always showing your government name everywhere. They want that quickie life with no repercussions. The idea is great but the developments and the perspectives aren't that obvious, that's why this decision seem ridiculous.

I will be shocked if that shyt stay in the top ten in either app store for another month...Snapchat is a mobile app fad, it is going to die really fast...Google and Facebook may be able to incorporate it into one their services with it hence why they offered up big dollars...This dude can't though, all he has is this app...I hope he has a plan because if he's banking on a fad to survive he is going to take a huge loss...
I think some of you are underestimating the popularity of Snapchat, I've had it at least a year and it only seems to be getting more popular. Went from having handful of contacts having it to virtually everyone I know under 30 having it and its replaced texting with my closer friends and definetly for flirting with broads
