No it ain't. Materialism is keeping up with the Joneses. You buying the latest and greatest name brands and it's mostly to show off for other people. Cars and motorcycles are a hobby for me, so I'd own a few old cheap models to wrench on them. You can't call somebody who own a 76 Cadillac materialistic.

Materialism is a love for material possessions. It doesn’t matter if it’s new or old.

By that same logic, you can’t call someone who owns a pair of 85 Jordan 1’s materialistic either .
