Materialism is keeping up with the Joneses. You buying the latest and greatest name brands and it's mostly to show off for other people. Cars and motorcycles are a hobby for me, so I'd own a few old cheap models to wrench on them. You can't call somebody who own a 76 Cadillac materialistic.
