You're right about Luka. I have defintely been in this thread blaming him for L's, one game I break down how the team basically collapsed in the second half once Luka returned to the game. His defense and turnovers and shot selection has for sure killed us. Especially in recent weeks, his overall net rating for the season has dipped.

What seperates Bron in this is a few things.....



1) His offensive impact is nowhere close to Luka's.

2) He is 40 and Luka is 26. For whatever Luka's flaws are he's out future, and Bron's 50M is our biggest hindrance into fully building out a team around Luka that masks his flaws

3) There's only one player who has his agent making dumbass comments CONSTANTLY. Only one player laughing with the other team while the coach is trying to call a play, forcing him to waste a timeout. There's only one player overruling the coach and best player to take a tech at the end of the game and miss it. Bron always does extra shyt that amplifies whatever negative might be happening on the court.

All of this energy spent on "not blaming it all on Bron" "there's a bigger problem"......nah, Bron, his presence, his agent, his entire propaganda mill IS the big problem. AR and Luka's defense are just flaws that we can mask along the way. If the Mavs can make the Finals with Luka and Kyrie, we can do it with Luka and AR.

wouldn’t say I disagree but that 24 Mavs team was basically lightning in a bottle. They had 2 hyper athletic rim running bigs shutting down the paint….They had 2 way wings like Exum..Derrick Jones and PJ Washington. Basically the perfect team around Luka…he had his lob threats at the rim full time….had a gang of elite defending wings who could all go get theirs while knocking down open shots. It’s not an easy team to build at all. When your main pieces aren’t malleable then you need premium players at every position

And AR is not on Kyrie’s level. The book is out on AR…you smother him with length and physicality and you can take him out. Kyrie never had that issue with anyone and can elevate his game to a level AR just can’t get to right now. Kyrie also doesn’t even need the ball in his hands which is he worked so well with Luka. But AR does because he’s a natural playmaker. I think there’s another level for AR to get to but it will be impossible with Luka

But I’m in agreement with y’all Bron’s 50 mil contract fukked the team and himself. He should be taking vet mins if he really wanted a ring to go. He’s still an allstar level player but he can’t do the dirty work anymore…,and a team with Luka and AR needs guys that defend, rebound and get out in transition. the problem is he didnt trust the front office enough to ever make that kind of commitment so he and the team will continue to stay in limbo
