In scenarios like this I always doing it by comparing what the worst that could happen from both options:

Would I feel worse leaving with 2 million dollars knowing I had a chance at making a billion or would I feel worse leaving with nothing knowing I could have had 2 million. And in this case I gotta take option A and get the 2 million.

Like others have said you can flip the 2 million (hell apps are becoming big business, it cost like $2000 to make one all you gotta do is invest in like 50 solid ones you think will do well. Even if theres only a 0.1% chance of you succeeding thats 5 successful apps, hopefeully one of which is good enough to make you break even $100000, and one of which does well enough to make you at least a 100 millionaire.)<-----Basically how invest companies make money if they have $5 million at their disposal to invest they can dump $100000 in so many things its almost impossible for them to at least not break even and then if the strike a facebook or hell even instagram

I've always said that. There's only so much you could do as a human being with with that amount of money anyway. I'm the type of dude where as long as I'm comfortable with a good amount of bread in the bank and my peoples are taken care of, I'm good for the most part.

You take option A and it's not even close. Doesn't even matter how good you are at shooting. Very few people have enough money to gamble and risk walking away with 0 vs taking a guaranteed 2 million.

Even if you a 90% shooter can you really afford the 10% of not getting any money? No.

A more difficult question would be something like...

Option A - $20,000
Option B - $2M

That would have people thinking.

$2M is "change your life money" so its easy to pick that. $2B is excessive...nobody need $2B.

now, $20,000 is "pay some bills...small investment" money and that aint as easy as a decision. $2M for a shot that some college athletes have a hard time making...that'll make you think for a minute.



If I had to pick between $20,000 and $2M I will pick the $2M dollar 3pt shot.
