black men being erased from rap is crazy
No mention of the Big 3 Battle...Biggest Hip Hop event of the last 20 years...

The battle of real men vs. weak charlatans and hoes. (Drake and Sexxy Red.)

But they use his record and appropriate his lyrics in skits with Kamala Harris...

Taraji opening up with full cosplay of Kendrick...just mocking the whole element of the song and what it stands for.

If that ain't playing in our face...

There are male r&b acts they could’ve given some shine to, they may not have hits rn but BET could’ve given them a platform. On the rap side, I don’t even know the names of any males that are poppin, last class I’m familiar with is the Durk/lil baby/gunna/youngboy class
What stands out as odd is that they had male R&B nominees that didn't even get a 30 second outro to commercial.

It seemed to me that they pulled the rap noms out of their ass.

I'll def give you that.

besides Hip Hop 50 and the whole Drake vs. Everybody stuff, the rap scene has been trash.

Thug in jail
Gunna free but everyone thinks he's a snitch
Drake dropped FATD but Kendrick's made it kinda tough to rally around Drake right now
everyone else either inactive, not relevant enough or in between records. One of the biggest names in rap now doesn't rap at all and that's Metro Boomin.

Killer Mike had a great year for an album they only praised because it won Grammys. That's why he got to have an award and a speech.

Kendrick's had the best year by far and even he just had a concert in that city a couple of weeks back, so it's not like Kendrick's gonna go to the BET Awards to play Not Like Us five times.

So who else was gonna be up there?

To be fair I'm sure most of the moms were from last year, which was awful

This year hip hop has been incredible

I'm talking about the last 12-18 months. If you take away Kendrick vs. Drake, you don't have much at all to talk about. anything remotely relevant was related to them two. If you didn't give a flying fukk about Kendrick vs. Drake, you didn't have a whole lot to fall back on, whereas at least the women were active, dropping music, putting out songs people liked.

The biggest story outside of the battle, was Diddy, who apparently many people wanna retcon right about now.

Seems like all the dudes performed on the pre show and they were mostly ass outside of October London. Dudes definitely need to step their game up cause this wasn’t their year on the bet awards lol

Yea that Usher shyt was crazy. I still don’t know if Usher even performed becuz I turned that shyt off outta sheer disgust when they cut to commercial before he got his award. That was the only reason I stayed on the couch with my lady instead of going down in the man cave. And they wasn’t slick having Keke Palmer all up in the tribute
:scust:

Coco Jones did her thing tho

To be fair there ain’t a lot of male heat right now and the ones who are putting out heat (Kendrick) aren’t going to the show.

They should have invited Tyler to perform that would have been nice and shoutout to Shobeezy and J-Kwon for the collab

Lil Baby brought that Central Cee song down. He definitely was not needed

I agree with the verse that was whatever. He did good on the hook which is what most people care about right now anyways, not me. It's still a current popular song.

I don't know why BET didn't add more male artists. Maybe they're saving them for the hip hop awards. One thing to remember they need a lot more security if they were to invite a lot of male rappers. Like Latto and Ice Spice got some beef but you don't need to worry about people getting stomped out or stabbed. Hip hop as also only had 1 popular female rapper, Nicki Minaj, for a long time until Cardi came out and showed that more female rappers can break into the mainstream. I know I'm generalizing there but for a long time for female rappers it was Nicki way ahead in popularity.

I did enjoy the performance with Shaboozey and J Kwon. I haven't seen anyone else mention that.
