My Pops Forever RIP
Desperate for views. Someone post the cliff notes later, cuz I'm not gonna listen to all this.
the clip is less than 4 minutes :wtb:

I think Mero on bullshyt with this response(least in this clip). It was widely reported that the split was because of Victor. Showtime or whoever their show was with didnt like Victor. They wanted to keep running the show, but wanted Victor gone/take a more back seat role. There were reports Victor was cussing ppl out/making them feel uncomfortable etc. Deseus was cool with that, Mero, being closer to Victor, said no. So the show ended and Deseus and Mero split.

Even in that Judd Apatow story, Victor is involved. Desus probably didnt like how much power Victor had. Especially if Victor is Mero's dude, everything basically 2v1 :yeshrug:

Fake edit yea: I posted it earlier in this thread
He was their manager from jump. Victor did much of the leg work in the business rooms because by Desus' own admission, he's an a$$hole when it comes to negotiations and general business stuff and that it was easier for execs to talk to Mero because Mero's personality is more affable. Somebody was getting them those meetings with Apatow and the connections they had. Whatever the fallout came from Showtime hasn't affected Mero or Victor at all (if anything, Showtime doesn't even really exist anymore the way it did when they were there)

Its honestly time for Desus side of the story. From what we’ve seen it definitely looked like Desus was trying to go Hollywood guest hosting late night and doing these promo runs on his own but I haven’t seen him much lately. Reports been saying it was Mero’s mans/manager that caused the riff, he’s calling cap on this recent stuff, so what’s your side? What’s the real story then?

Regardless of the specifics of the breakup, I think it’s clear by where they are now that they just wanted different things and that’s the overarching issue. Both a personality clash and a long term view of their careers.

There’s no way Desus trying to be Hollywood wasn’t part of the breakup. You can tell by his moves and his friendship circle he’s trying to get into his “black guy who keeps it real but appeals to mainstream white America ” bag. He needs to be mindful of how he moves because his Hollywood connects are everything.

Mero’s mouth is not that kind of Hollywood friendly. :pachaha: His connects are more hip hop/sports oriented. He wants to own his brand and make money while still talking shyt and staying grounded with his family and Day Ones in his home base.

Even tho I think the way Desus moves is corny, I can’t be mad at him for wanting more for his career and having your business moves be limited causes he’s tethered to someone with different goals.

Either way Desus liking this is wack - https://x.com/warnecessary/status/1758394741543096511?s=46

Jealousy? Really?

But Nero's stories paint a somewhat different picture. I'm really starting to think that Desus was just tired of dealing with Nero and Victor and wanted to do his own thing. If it was simply about Desus wanting to go Hollywood why would he turn down a Judd Apatow movie? There was definitely some other stuff going on.

Mero's story seems a little different every time he tells it. Says a bunch of nothing but there's always a new detail or so in it.

Seems like Mero wanted to keep taking whatever check available because he has big bills and Desus wasn't feeling a lot of it anymore (Mero, Victor the manager, the content they were creating, etc).

The shyt got super stale a while before they stopped anyway, and i was a big supporter dating back to their Complex days.
