That is odd. I’ve never gone on a date with a guy that didn’t compliment me. Even if it’s not body/looks compliments at least tell her she’s funny or has good taste, something.

I would have done the same, what’s the point in dating a guy that’s not going to gas you up???

Women take pride in their outfits, hair and stuff like that. On a first date that's all I know about a woman so of course I'm going to let her know that I notice she looks good. It's like everybody wants that prince or princess but don't want to be vulnerable enough to put themselves out there to get them. Show some humility
