at 1:33 Dave Mays says they did a lot of research and the black girlfriend story was absolutely false..

No excuse either way for him dropping that racist shyt. Esp since he's in a field dominated and marketed towards black people but anyone thinking he's an actual racist is retarded. He's just ignorant as fukk and recorded some ignorant shyt(what a shocker) but there's no way eminem is secretly hating black people when he surrounds himself with them everyday.

Still doesn't deserve a pass and he did get off easily but if it had happened in this day and age I feel like he would've been held more accountable.

what I hate the most about this conversation is that people who supposedly are saying Eminem is a racist and don't like him seem to be almost missing their own point. same with some of the people furiously defending him.

the fact that people in these threads (and on the podcast, I'll give u that) are still talkin about whether the black girlfriend (in such a "white" city as Detroit, of all places btw) was real or not are missing the point. if you're mad that Eminem did the tape in the first place/consider him to be racist because of it, then that tape/Em recording it should be what matters, not the backstory. when he wrote/recorded the song he had plenty of time to think how it would be looked @ later (and judging by the fact that he recorded he probably didn't think it was gonna be a huge deal)

if you consider what Eminem said was hateful and/or racist & not "just a silly song/tape", then it shouldn't matter what lead him into saying what he said.

like, does it matter if a Klan member says he was punched in the face by a black kid when he was 11? and then you do the research and find out that he when he was 11 he actually lived in Alaska & there were no black people there back then? or does it matter that he just burned a cross in front of someones house. (extreme example, but anyway)



let me personally add that I really couldn't give a less of a fukk. mainly because this discussion has been made 5-10 times/year since I started lurking sohh back in 07 or something.
