It's like a 2% chance of catching it while not during an outbreak. You can also catch it during the prodromal phase where a person has flu like symptoms before an outbreak. There's false positives and false negatives which is why doctors don't typically test for it unless you have an outbreak. Canada has made it illegal to test for because so many people have it. I don’t know how I spent my 20s unscathed. 
This was when Tinder was at its peak. I was an absolute animal. Granted, I strapped up 95% of the time but I definitely rawed some unrefined women. And head was ALWAYS without a condominium.
What made me quit tinder was when I matched with this fine young baby momma. We were about to meet up and she said “I have to be honest with you. I got herpes from my baby daddy and that’s why we broke up. I’ll understand if you want to unmatch.”

The complications with genital herpes or herpes type 2 during pregnancy is the mother can pass it onto the baby.
It doesn't necessarily affect a woman during birth.
