whites get to study within the framework of a white pedagogy. are you stating that blacks are not allowed that privilege? that we should do this as a hobby and our studies are not as important as studying the white man's social constructions?

uh...in history classes sure. Maybe.

I don't see what your point is in applying that standard to the hard sciences or math etc.

You're in the realm of social studies...of COURSE its biased.

this is not a class that defines what is hip hop and what is not. it is a class that looks at how hip hop has served as a critique of contemporary society, and the power that it has afforded marginalized communities, not only in america but globally.

here's another article that is well written, but I don't necessarily agree with the argument...its another great article that will explode a debate about the mindset of hip hop artists...
