we tend not to look at individual artists. so through the framework of mf doom as an example, we look at the globalization of hip hop, how it affects their particular countries cultures, and how hip hop shapes the view of how immigrants like mf doom view hip hop. and also their role within the structure

thank you for telling me what you think is appropriate for me to do. i will remember this when i eventually go before a tenure board.

"well, this internet personality named napoleon (who may or may not possess the complex), said that i should teach this course. he did not provide me any pedagogy or curriculum design, but he thought it would be cool so i am proposing it!" :camby:

if i wanted i could design this class.

BUT YOU DIDNT! :pachaha:
but i can't even get blacks to support a class rooted in black pedagogy.
I live this. I'll stick to employable topics and study this in my free time during my daily commute :pachaha:

how many whites want to learn about contemporary black culture, let alone past black culture?

Thats on them.

breh he's gonna keep trolling you on some elitist know it all bullshyt...dude couldn't hold weight in a serious critical thought debate let alone class...his formulas and science are his security blanket:flabbysickti:

What the fukk did you just fukking say about me, you little bytch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fukk out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fukking words. You think you can get away with saying that shyt to me over the Internet? Think again, fukker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fukking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shyt. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fukking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shyt fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fukking dead, kiddo.

MF Doom is the anti-thesis of Mainstream Hip Hop.

How is that not worthy of discussion.

whites get to study within the framework of a white pedagogy. are you stating that blacks are not allowed that privilege? that we should do this as a hobby and our studies are not as important as studying the white man's social constructions?

This is one of the best articles to hold a discussion on how hip hop has affected the black population at the global, national, and local levels...I'll upload some more as well. Lang is a good dude and a serious scholar on the black experience

Just hit the download part of the link and the article is there

which alludes to the power shift from artists to the record labels.

this is not a class that defines what is hip hop and what is not. it is a class that looks at how hip hop has served as a critique of contemporary society, and the power that it has afforded marginalized communities, not only in america but globally.
