im from queens the part near laguardia airport
so when i say uptown i mean upper manhattan (like anything above central park) and the bronx
for someone who lives in the south bronx uptown to them might be central bronx or the north bronx
and downtown to them might be upper manhattan which is really uptown but to someone in the bronx it's downtown i guess
but generally speaking uptown is upper manhattan (harlem, washington heights etc)
downtown is lower manhattan (greenwich village, lower eastside, soho etc)
then you have midtown which is like where macys, madison square garden, times square and a million other places are
midtown is also where a lot of the corporate jobs are
oh then you have the upper east and upper west sides of manhattan
which are like more (pricey) residential areas between midtown and uptown
Not from there but living there nowYou're from east Elmhurst?
Not from there but living there now
And actually the part I'm living at is still considered Astoria (which is where I'm really from) but technically and as far as the post office and stuff it's East Elmhurst.
Well I'm on the ditmars side so this little area does feel like an extension of AstoriaSounds like you're at the other side of east Elmhurst. By the 70s and shyt. I'm in the 90s. I hate how people by trying to claim that area like it's Astoria or upper ditmars. Sooner or later east Elmhurst is gonna be called east Astoria. That's all some real estate bullshyt trying to expand Astoria and make shyt expensive.
Is the Colombian female population still strong in Astoria , I havent been there since 04 , shyt was dimes galore![]()
lmao i heard that taco spot is dope...its wack?
Well I'm on the ditmars side so this little area does feel like an extension of Astoria
Growing up we always called this area "the heights" as in Astoria Heights
Although I used to think people meant Jackson Heights and in my head I would always be like that ain't Jackson Heights
When you cross Astoria Boulevard then you feel like you're in another neighborhood imo
gotta go to jackson heights and northern boulevard
when i used to work in jackson heights that shyt was all central and south americans..shyt is turning middle eastern nowu the second person that said that. i aint been there in years tho.
breh they probably meant to say west harlem. only thing in east harlem is lots and lots of dope fiends and bloods. 125th and lexington is as close to 80s era NY as the city gets![]()

my girl used to live in east elmhurst, I was there all the time by the 90's
lol @ people calling elmhurst astoria. i like east elmhurst cuz it's quiet and stuff but still close to stuff. i notice that parts of the city that is more bus accessible than train accessible turns out to be less gentrified
Pics?
Yeah i know families who bought their houses in the 1920s. They've shown me pics of my block in the 60's and it looks the same minus the cars.
It is relatively quiet but its a huge difference from where frida is to where 127 is. There's always shyt going down around the school
