i bought it once on vinyl. did find it a great album but not the greatest hiphop album of all time.
the production just wasn't good enough on it for me to like it as much.

What are some albums that you think have better production?

Fifth time. :ahh:
First I got the cassette. Copped the CD twice...bought the Platinum edition on vinyl, and just picked up the Get Down vinyl version from last year.
I can't think of any other album I've bought more.
It got me thinking though, has anybody bought an album six times??
Also picked up 36 (third time I've bought it) and Pimpire. Both on vinyl :wow:

Looks like it's time for you to buy it for the 6th time:win:

Bought this album so many times too. I have a mint condition OG cassette still, bought the CD few times, own just about every version of Vinyl, only one I'm missing is the second side of Illmatic XX and Illmatic: Live From The Kennedy Center which I just ordered lol

Only few other albums I've bought bunch of times, probably Only Built 4 Cuban Linx , Doggystyle, Midnight Marauders & The Infamous

Gangstarr - Moment Of Truth is my favorite of all time.
I like Guru better than Nas. Think he has a better voice.
But i'm not a lyrical myrical. I just listen to music as a whole. Not overanalyzing every lyric i hear.
That is a really well produced album :ehh:
Nas a better rapper than Guru, but Guru was sorely underrated. :wow:
So are there other albums that you think have better production than Illmatic? Or just MOT?

yes i agree, guru was highly underrated. one thing that never gets mentioned is his story telling ability. definitely slept on when it comes to hip hop story tellers

as for moment of truth while i loved it, i personally think hard to earn was gangstarr's best work from top to bottom. when i first heard brainstorm my head exploded

I think Guru rhymes a lot better on MOT. Love Hard to Earn though.

A lot of albums have better production but Illmatic was really important to hiphop so i think it deserves that crown.
