So I guess the "20/20 Experience" was a flop, right?

like i said after the first 4-5 days of listening to it, there's nothing classic about this album. Sonically, it's nothing different than what Timbo's done with Sparxxx or Ginuwine or the rest of the Super Friends crew with the beat switches, double taps, etc. Cool album but a lot of folks blew it up to something it's not. FS/LS was miles ahead of this lyrically and experimentally. It's aight for what it is

Thank you! :myman:

Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about. :salute:

Ginuwine and Timbaland were a better match up then Justin and Timberlake anyway.

I get what the OP is saying, would I call it a flop? no, but it wasn't going to flop when he promoted the hell out of it, almost to the point of overexposure. He still isn't going to do "Confessions" numbers. :ld:

20/20 is not a flop on any level. Not liking an album doesn't mean that it's a flop. People not talking about an album months after it's released also doesn't mean it's a flop. All that means is that it's not an instant classic or even a classic like that. Time will tell.

20/20 is an album that was generally well recieved, but it just lacks the kind of standout songs that Futuresex/Lovesounds had to sustain it. Overall, 20/20 probably works better as an album because it doesn't have the handful of weaker songs that Futuresex/Lovesounds had. It's like people just threw "Sexy Ladies", the will.i.am and Rick Rubin songs, and "Losing My Way" into the bushes. The title track from Futuresex/Lovesounds is one of the best songs on the album, but it's one of the overlooked songs on the album.

The same could be said about Futuresex/Lovesounds as well though.

Lyrically, FS/LS is on par with 20/20. There's corniness and cliches sprinkled throughout both albums and neither is a lyrically strong album. The melodies and beats are what drive both abums.

True but you gotta admit, there's nothing on 20/20 lyrically deep or soulful as (Another Song) All Over Again

look around man. Classic albums are talked about on here constantly.. not even classic albums. Shyt nyggas talk about Drake albums non stop. NOBODY, on here or anywhere is mentioning this Timberlake album.. The hype after it dropped ended in maybe 5 days. It happens to all great artists. Every great artist got that one forgettable album man.. lets be reality

Yeah, it sold.. but eh...

The Coli isn't the end all, be all in measuring an album though. It doesn't make it forgettable. I mean, it has two singles that are still on the charts months after they were released. He's only released two singles with one on the way. Both are successful. Forgettable is when an album drops, singles are released (but nothing really sticks), album drops with a nice first week and quickly plummets thereafter. This album just got a 31% bump and has already sold 2 million+ copies. That speaks nothing of quality, but if an album is forgettable, it's not something that's going to sell consistently. It's also not going to have two back to back Top 3 singles on the Hot 100.

I'd also like to add that there's classics that don't get threads on here. For example, Kaleidoscope Dream (don't know if it's classic) was talked about upon release and then disappeared.

That song and "Sexy Ladies" (like the interlude after though) are the only songs on the FS/LS that I don't like.
