If you still enjoy being around "others" (not just whites) I question your "awareness". Becoming conscious of the history of blacks in this country and the intentional suppression of us to keep us as 2nd class citizens (which is still happening today) should raise your own racial pride.

With your impossible 24/7 qualifier, the answer is obvious yes, you can be woke.

But like others have said, if you're not outraged by white supremacy and the condition of the world over the last several hundred years, then nah, you ain't woke.

My experience with conscious/unconscious folks is that, when questioned, the conscious one responds with what they know and what they're doin'. The unconscious one responds with excuses, exaggeration and irrelevance.

I'm pretty sure the emotional part came up not because of some fukking smilie but the dumb questions that don't make sense. I don't get how you got any idea to ask me them questions about black people off what I said. I wrote like 3 or 4 sentences which isn't paragraphs but exaggerate as you see fit. I'm not angry at you just don't see how you got what you got from my comments. Disagreeing with people isn't confrontational its just some people are sensitive and want to say things with no one challenging their post.

I can't answer a question that doesn't apply to me. I'm rarely angry people make stuff up to feel better about themselves. Nobody can explain why would I be angry? My family/friends are great and I'm doing well myself its nothing to be mad at. That's just a tired troupe on here to try to silence people or else you'll be "angry"

People respond to shyt differently. It's pretty simple. I've noticed a trend. People who use the term woke usually aren't. Honestly, it doesn't matter who's woke. If you're black or down with the struggle we're fam. I hate everyone with a passion, but that doesn't mean I'm okay with you being abused and exploited. Everyone deserves to be treated respectfully and fairly.

It's that simple. The details don't matter. The trendy hash tags don't matter. nikkas getting shot dead in the streets matters. Children being shot dead at the park matters. Crackers being shot dead while lunging away from police matters.

I love how people want to have debates about who matters more when you're all being treated the same. The people who assign value have already shown you who matters and what your value is. Your allies have been decided for you by the oppressor. Our allies are the oppressed, because we are of them.

That's too real for the Internet though.

As beaten down as black folks in America are, they have always found ways to CREATE happiness, celebration, art, ideas and love. Conscious happiness is resistance.

Think about how the slaves secretly created songs of expression and liberation, told stories to preserve their humanity, secretly married, remained spiritual, maintained love ties and networks of support. And they had even more reason than you to be in a constant state of pure rage.

I rmbr Hurricane Carter said they could control him physically, but they could never control his mind. And he damn sure had more reason to be angry and bitter than any of us here do.

As a black person you have to exercise agency and practise self-care. The ideas you entertain, the friends you have around you, your mouth etc. Do things that make you feel good.

You might be marginalized but there's still a lot to be happy about.
