True, but not everyone is developer or coder and even those jobs will become limited to the best of the best over time as they fill.I sorta agree, but not quite
What about the robots thesmselves? Whose gonna build them? Whose gonna learn how to fix them? Whose gonna test the newly written code for the robots?
That's where new job opportunities come into play. Very pessimistic title

Basic income, here we come
Get your entrepreneurial skills up.
I said we need low cost fusion power soon in another thread recently and I was laughed at. This is why. Energy is the main resource that matters in the 21st century. With low cost energy a UBI makes sense. If we are dependent on fossil fuels deep into the 21st century as supplies dwindle and prices go up, this married with the natural increasing income inequality endemic to capitalism will lead to chaos. Businesses wont have anyone to buy their shyt. Families will not be able to make rent or pay the note. If people think things are bad now, just wait.
just get another PhD, ya slacker!
Will those industries produce enough well paying jobs to replace the ones rendered obsolete by automation?
Like what? That 20 to 40 dollar salary range accounts for a large chunk of the population..... You axe 30% of those jobs over a ten year span and you'll kick the economy dead in its nuts......
And people got on them McDonalds workers for 'asking too much' when they went on strike to get $15. These rich folks were going to replace them regardless, and they will replace as many other professions with robots as soon as they can. Now it becomes a lot more real when peoples' own profession and not those fast food workers profession is at risk.
not a problem! if you aren't making $40 an hour by the time you graduate college then you haven't worked hard enough!
industrial revolution created new jobs but fundamentally changed the relationship between work and worker. it forced most people to rent themselves out to other human beings survive. it wasn't seen as much different than slavery
wonder what this wonderful new revolution will have in store for us![]()
But 40 dollars is roughly around 80,000 a year. I don't know any college graduate making that much once they graduate.
that's the coli income floor last I knew
You aren't repping Queens right, fam.
You don't have to tell me twice
When I worked retail there were a few 60, 70 year old workers having to do part-time because they didn't have enough money saved up to truly retire and could no longer get jobs in their field most likely due to their age. Not...gonna...be...me. That's how America spits out its old and elderly. I rather spend my next 40 years building business systems to make me rich. The day I start earning more than I make at work, I'm gone.
