So In 96-97 When Jay Said “Biggie, Jay-Z or Nas” was the argument for Best MCs what other rapper should’ve been offended the most?

None.

They were the top MC's in the city at that time. And most popular. It's not even close.

People are posting who they prefer, but that shows that they weren't around at the time, to know who was really poppin' in the city during that era. Jay has talked about this many times. He said during that stretch, he felt like him, Nas and B.I.G. were the three you had to be better than. And he was right.

Ma$e, prodigy, pick ya fave wutang member, outkast, ugk, if we keeping it eastcoasr?

Jay-z was Ma$e son in the vol. 1 era he could not fukk with murda in any category. Vol. 1 is a trash album compared to Harlem world. In fact.

Volume 2 was basically him making his version of a Harlem world album with ma$e producers. Jay-z is the best a&r and art director in hiphop he always knew when the next wave was coming from.

Stop, not in real time. I don’t know your age, but I lived it.

Other MC’s were selling more and had more critically acclaimed albums than reasonable doubt and vol 1.

Rae- Cuban Linx first week sales were higher than both Jays. Obviously heralded more in real time. Obviously Wu was bigger too

Prodigy- both infamous and hell on earth were rated higher.

Ghost- Ironman debuted higher than RD and rated higher. obviously Wu was bigger too

Meth- not better, or a better album. But he was bigger thanks to wu

That’s just NYC rappers

There’s now atleast 6-8 other MC’s from other areas too that were bigger and better. Pac, redman, snoop, face, busta, cube for example

Btw, I’m not mad at the line. He should talk that shyt
