So In 96-97 When Jay Said “Biggie, Jay-Z or Nas” was the argument for Best MCs what other rapper should’ve been offended the most?

All good answers has been said just wanted to say this is why hip hop is the goat genre.

30 years later we have a thread debating multiple people who would be offended from a bar that didn’t mention them

Great thread OP

Cube was washed already.
No he wasn't.
Stop, not in real time. I don’t know your age, but I lived it.

Other MC’s were selling more and had more critically acclaimed albums than reasonable doubt and vol 1.

Rae- Cuban Linx first week sales were higher than both Jays. Obviously heralded more in real time. Obviously Wu was bigger too

Prodigy- both infamous and hell on earth were rated higher.

Ghost- Ironman debuted higher than RD and rated higher. obviously Wu was bigger too

Meth- not better, or a better album. But he was bigger thanks to wu

That’s just NYC rappers

There’s now atleast 6-8 other MC’s from other areas too that were bigger and better. Pac, redman, snoop, face, busta, cube for example

Btw, I’m not mad at the line. He should talk that shyt
These rappers were not better than 97 Jay. Bigger (outside of Face), yes.

Method Man. He was the star of the Wu and he was always nice. He killed it on Wu Forever, Pac’s album, Mobb’s album, Redman’s album and Wu’s other shyt.

This right here!

Lil' Cease told a story recently, about how one night he was at the club with Jay and BIG, doing a show. And when they left, BIG told him, 'I think that n*gga is better than me". BIG thought Jay was incredible. He told Jay they should both move to Atlanta and start their company down there and form a group. That's when the whole Commission thing came out.
It's DJ Clark Kent so it's a bit of a stretch but he said Who Shot Ya was partially directed at him for constantly gassing up Jay to him...only for him to become a believer 2 years later :russ:

I really think if Biggie lived he would've left Bad Boy for Roc A-Fella in '98 when he saw the climate changing and Puffy still sticking to his guns.

Rae, P or perhaps Mase. Mase has the girls and clubs, but maybe not a chokehold on the streets. Meth while still everyone's favorite would've had to drop another album.
