cac or not it's a good watch/listen. That's if you want a good rebuttal to the op :ld:

I watched the first 30 minutes. He really gets into it fromt he 16:00 mark .

My take on it is he's trying to defend Christianity by maing the argument that , and i quote, "as a whole" the Bible was against slavery. But Truth is it still supported slavery. I understand that back then some people (white and black) volunteered to be slaves in order to survive. But anyone who wants to hang on to Christianity will believe whatever argument you present to them to remain christian

That's true. I see where you're coming from. I think the overall message was that yes, there were slaves in the Bible, BUT it was definitely different. That was evident when he started talking about the Slave Bible and how 80% was taken out for fear of Slave rebellion.

Which is why I posted the video in response to OP. I see a lot of random bible verses being taken out of context then memed. IMO the people creating the memes are no different from the Europeans who cut out 80% of the text :yeshrug:

I'll admit it's easy for me to feel that way though, since I am a believer. That pastor was actually a guest speaker at my church last month.

That is Old Testament law that applied to people living under the days of the Old Testament. Today we live under the New Testament laws thanks to the ultimate sacrifice for the atonement of man and the covenant. Meaning God completely changed the way he dealt with man after the Old Testament, no more direct involvement or appearing to us. We messed that all up so God gave us another chance but now we had complete free will and a clean slate. That's literally what the whole crucifixion and resurrection was about, God sending his son to die for all the past sins and wrongs of the Old Testament and give man a fresh start. I mean Act 2:38 didn't even come about until after Jesus death. And that is currently the only known sure way to get to heaven is by following Acts 2:38.

The Old Testament is basically just a really detailed history book of the beginnings of man and his relationship with God. with some good wisdom thrown in there to live by i.e. Proverbs and such. So yea that Old Testament law aint got nothing to with man for a longgggg long time now.
This 100%.
The old testament is exactly that. An old testament.
It's included in the complete Bible for historical context of where we were and how God dealt with people back then, vs how things are today and how they will be in the future.
Plenty of gems of knowledge in the old testament, but anyone believing that we are to follow the old testament to the letter is missing the key point of the crucifixion of Jesus and the ripping of the veil in the temple.
