The coli had me thinking it was the greatest horror/thriller of all time. I think that’s what fukked me up. If I didn’t go into it thinking that, I would have enjoyed it more.

Either way it was straight. I probably won’t ever watch it again though.

This is how I feel. I was so hyped from Get Out, and Jordan's ability to tell a story with symbolism, that my expectations were too high. It was good, but I wasn't blown away.

I thought it was dope.

I say this as somebody who is not into horror flicks like that, and I still haven't seen Get Out.

You need to watch Get Out, then. I'm sure you've heard the hype but that movie is an easy 9 outta 10, easy. Classic film and great debut for Peele. The way he came out hard with Get Out gives me hope he can rebound from Us...

Us wasn't bad, but it has little repeat value and is a 6, a 7 of I'm being generous, but certainly no higher than that. Count me in with those who had high expectations from Get Out who were underwhelmed by this film...

I didn't think the acting was great, story was boring in spots and it opened really wack and confusing in the first half hour or so. It got better after that, but still had little emotional value. All in all if this goes down as Jordan Peele's "sophomore slump", it still is a better than mediocre film. It just doesn't fulfill the expectations Get Out raised, but as someone else mentioned, Get Out is close to a perfect movie, so no shame in that...

JP will hone in on his craft and get better with experience. I still support him!

It's pretty good. I don't know if it's great though, I have to see it again to make that judgment.

Nah, if I watched this on Netflix I'd say it was a waste of my time so imagine how I feel about planning an entire evening going to see this in the theater.

Heard it got 100% on rotten tomatoes :leostare:

Jordan Peele has mad clout right now in the Hollywood elite. There was always rumors that Key and Peele were "chosen" by the higher ups in Hollywood since they are "safe" black comedians who can cut across different demographics.

Yes. Its just not a horror movie. Its a long azz episode of the twilight zone built around Alice in Wonderland (originally titled Alice Adventures Underground) and Mind Control experiments. Its many layers to the film and points to analyze from.

Im just going to add with the very occult themes of his first two films, I wonder who is really behind the push of Jordan Peele. The movie is filled with tons of references to Monarch\MK Ultra-esque programming. His first movie is about hypnosis and body snatching as forms of mind control. This one is about cloning (both physical and behavioral cloning) and twinning\bonding as forms of mind control. And he chose some pretty deliberate symbolism and names as well.

So much so I found myself wondering if Lupita was under hypnosis for parts of her role as Red.
