Which is why I ran though the whole spectrum, people like you tend to only read what you want to. Music is subjective, I mentioned that it got good reviews from hiphop media and some weak reviews from alternative media. It had a bunch of singles that people fukked with, it sold well indicating that a lot of people liked it, the tour sold out indicating that people wanted to hear him perform the songs, most people on here thought it was a solid effort nothing like his highest levels but still aight specially considering the fact that he's 44 years old about 17 albums deep.. And on.

Read a post, think, as a matter of fact think an read twice, then respond.
Cause from the look of it you only saw the word platinum and responded.

Now the fact that kids like the threadstarter is in every Jay thread hating, kills his opinion regarding the album. Even though we gave it a similar rating (what he called epic rail, I call aight)
Again, lol. The album was bad. It doesnt matter what its singles did or how it sold or what magazine critically acclaimed it. 6 yrs later, people still show AG love. 13 yrs later, people still show BP1 love. 18 yrs later nobody disputes RD's classic status. But 1 yr later, nobody... not the critics, not the stans, not anybody, is talking *EDIT* POSITIVELY about MCHG. And being old doesnt give you a pass for being wack.... nikkas who get too old to play sports either retire or get the boot. Jay should have hung it up 10 yrs ago.

seems like Jay is a casualty to his own success

when your competing against yourself its hard to win every time

the album was 4.5/5

it was a great album. i think that people just dont like jay cause he is as popular as he is

but i cant tell another man who to like

It was a lackluster album DESPITE the strong production. That's why it's hard to give it a pass. You have one of the all time greats rapping over pretty good production and he couldn't make very compelling songs with it.

Lyrically it's possibly Hov's worst album, but I still fukked with most of it :yeshrug:.Probably a 3.5/5 when it's all said and done.

The difference between athletes and Jay-z is that Jay-z is still in popular demand.
Music is subjective, a lot of people like the album and even make fukk with a few joints. h
He's still selling out tours and moving nearly the same units as motherfukking Drake. Nobody wants to see Kobe play and drop 5 points, that's objective. So that analogy is wack as fukk.

And magazines and shyt matter how else can you sit here and say that no one fukks with the album? Are the 200 people who have commented on the album on the coli stronger than the millions that bought the album?

And I don't know why he's got to release classics for it to not be wack as fukk either.
Trying your best to make some new nice music to add to you enormous discography if you are going on tour is common practice in music. An album doesn't have to entertain you for decades, sometime (most times) a few months is enough. And we all like different tracks, some people love on the run (which the biggest tour of the year is based on), some people like the joint with Ross which still gets heavy rotation wen alcohol is involved and on.

And note that I ran through all of the points of success/fail that the thread starter could be referring to. I said it wasn't as commercially successful as his most successful albums and not as dope as his dopest albums. More like one of his weakest if not weakest album, but MJs weakest season was still better than average 6.5/10.

The reason to why I mention his age is cause, the kid was talking about epic fail. As if anyone was expecting a 5 mic classic on the 17th, 18th? project from a 44 year old rapper who treats rap like a hobby.
