^^^Just know that mileage expenses only can be deducted if you travel anywhere outside of your typical commute to and from work. So you can't just expense mileage to get to and from work at a stationary office. This gets ALOT OF PEOPLE caught up if they audit you. Different rules can be applied if you are self employed and your home is your office.
Also the majority of things you may think you can just write off if you are employed usually CANNOT be written off...legally.
Just wanted to let people know and also consult with a licensed professional if you have things you may think you can write off...
Good info. I never went pro just turbo tax
Basically when it gets to business expenses it's like....
Did you buy anything work related.... Then it'll give you some examples. Stationary. Papers. Maybe shyt you keep in your desk
Do you have a room in your house that is used for work? Then examples. An office, a desk, a computer, shyt like that, that you only use for working at home....
Then they start giving all these things you can get credit for. Well you have a home office, take 30% of your utility bills off. Oh you needed a Mac to do networking on 24 hour call? Take that off
But it's not an exact total. You bought 5000 dollars of work stuff so you get a 5000 credit. NO. It gives you a deduction that is a percentage of that
If I was one of those 5-10k people, I'd definitely spend the money for a pro tho
