Magneto originally started off as your run of the mill villain although his motivations were not selfish but he carried them out in a typical cliched villainous manner. It wasn't until Chris Claremont revived the X-men brand that he gave Magneto more depth. I think he was the writer that gave him the Holocaust background. So in essence it explained some of his more extreme actions against humans and added depth to his beliefs and motivations.

So it was this portrayal that aligned him abit closer to the philosophy of Malcolm X. He wanted segregation and to be left alone by humans not acceptance but if they showed any aggression toward his people he responded in kind sometimes overly aggressive.

X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills is a MUST read........to see an excellent portrayal of Magneto

That is bullshyt where Magneto was concerned when he was originally created he was a scumbag straightforward super-villain. The dimensions and nuance to the character weren't given to him till Roy Thomas and Chris Claremont started writing the character.
Stan Lee is a pontificating credit stealing old coot.

You can delve into his reasoning and all that but at the end of the day, Magneto is a villain. He's evil. And thats how he is presented in every medium.

Magneto isn't "evil" per say breh..and in the original comics, in the cartoon, in the movies, and even now, he's not evil and never been portrayed as evil. All of his motivations are clearly drawn out and able to be understood. Yes there are people who disagree with him but there's a reason that Charles doesn't want him dead and its because he understands they both have the same goal but are going about it in different ways, which is just like Malcolm and Martin
Okay I see what you saying the only Xman I care about is Wolverine so didn't know that much about megneto now that you put it that way I understand thanks bruh.

:dwillhuh: Magneto tried to kill humanity like a thousand times over, breh, how is he not evil? At best you can say that he fights the wrong way for the right reasons, and that's stretching it.

Matter of fact...

It's literally in the name of his crew, breh! :russ:

Pretty much. It's kind of a double standard because as @MartyMcFly mentioned, in the most popular and well-known incarnations he's motivated by a justified cause, but at the end of the day he's still a super villain.

And people shouldn't take the MLK/Malcolm X comparisons too literally. Writers took a lot of inspiration from their relationship but that doesn't mean Prof X and Magneto are intended to be direct proxies of them. So just because Magneto is evil doesn't mean writers are saying Malcolm was evil.

I think people itt expecting Magneto to be EXACTLY like Malcolm, which I don't think is what's up. They based some qualities off of him but not the whole character. You kinda can feel this from that X Men movie they had back in 2011 or whatever
